Recorded By The Magnolia Sisters 1995-2014: Songs From The 1930's Lomax Louisiana Collection-A Compilation

In honor of this year’s festival Acadien’s celebration of 40 years of good music and 80 years since John and Alan Lomax made recordings in Louisiana, the Magnolia Sisters have compiled a collection of 14 of their band’s recordings of this collection.

Since Michael Doucet and Barry Ancelet first brought this material back to Louisiana it has been an enormous inspiration to the Magnolia Sisters. The depth and breadth the materials collected were breath taking and beautiful. Over the past 19 years they recorded 20 of these numbers on various labels and albums. Here, on this new CD, they are in their rich beauty, all together on one CD. Included also are two live cuts done on the road and two or three studio out takes that were uncovered as they looked back over their recordings of the past 19 years.

Ann Savoy, Jane Vidrine, Anya Burgess and Lisa Trahan represent the very best that modern Cajun music has to offer

Ann Savoy, Jane Vidrine, Tina Pilione, Christine Balfa and Lisa Trahan Reed are strong acoustic instrumentalists who have created an album of beauty and great strength, balancing rollicking dance music with haunting and ancient ballads.
